Linda Edna Cardellini is the daughter of Lorraine (Hernan), a mother and Wayne David Cardellini (a father), an entrepreneur. She is Italian (from a paternal grandson), Irish (from a mother), German and English. Linda grew in San Francisco Bay region, California being the eldest of her four brothers. At the age of 10, she began to be attracted to acting after performing in a play at school. Her school productions included plays as well as local community theater. Her breakout moment came in the year 2015 when she played the lead role in Cinderella the film of fantasy. She had previously played Lady Rose MacClare as part of the period series Downton Abbey. James went on to portray the Countess Natasha Rostova in the television version of War & Peace (2016) and starred in several films. These included the action movie Baby Driver (2017), the period dramas Darkest Hour (2017), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018) as well as The Dig (2021), and musicals Mamma Mia! and Here We Go Again (2018) and Yesterday (2019). Her performance as Pamela Anderson in the biographical show Pam & Tommy (2022) was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award.
